klimaaktiv

The program “klimaaktiv” renewable heating supports the decarbonisation of the Austrian heating sector. The goal is to offer independent consultation to consumers, planners and decision-makers.

Austria’s climate protection programme “klimaaktiv supports the development of renewable heating with long-term activities and measures to increase consciousness and support decision-making, carried out by a consortium of regional and local energy agencies. Since 2014 there has also been a focus on the urban sphere.

The duties of the Energy Center lie in overall management, the management of the city districts as well as working out the contents of the area of city districts in Vienna. Activities and goals for the area of city districts include:

  • “Community-building” and joint learning in three cities/regions with suitable formats (regular meetings/workshops, several excursions), to win high-ranking players (planners, utilities, builders, etc.) for renewable heating solutions.
  • Involvement in five city development projects in Vienna, Graz and Salzburg to introduce heating solutions into the planning processes. The goal is that innovative renewable systems will be implemented in at least two city districts/housing developments in the medium term.
  • Improvement of the framework conditions in order to increase the use of renewable heating in city area development.
