Smart City Wien Framework Strategy Monitoring

With the Smart City Wien Framework Strategy which was adopted by the Vienna City Council in 2014, the City of Vienna has set quantitative and qualitative targets for a sustainable development of the city. The monitoring process examines the extent to which the objectives of the framework strategy are achieved.

Smart City Wien combines growth with the greatest possible conservation of resources. The focus is on the use of technological and social innovation while maintaining the highest quality of life for everybody.

The monitoring process examines the extent to which the objectives of the framework strategy are achieved. At the same time, this monitoring process serves as a platform to better coordinate the different activities and to further improve the cooperation between the various facilities in the city. This is indispensable for achieving the ambitious objectives of the framework strategy.

Due to the comprehensive diversity of the Smart City Vienna Framework Strategy, the monitoring provides an insight into the different policy areas of the city. It is open to developmental tendencies in all important policy areas and is thus an important strategic information and decision-making base for politics and administration in order to enable timely management and coordination of resources and measures, to identify possible action needs and to develop suggestions for improvement.

The results of the first monitoring cycle can be found here.

This project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
