In the smart hubs of the future the effectiveness, the efficiency and the resilience of multimodal transport systems as well as the sustainable operation of such systems should be enhanced.
The project pilot study Smart Hubs 2.0 dealt with the optimization of multimodal nodes in Corridor VII (the Danube corridor). The aim of the project was to analyze the optimization potential with respect to an overall transport system strategy as well as to develop a benchmark system for the measurability and comparability of measures. Technical and organizational strategies were presented and proposals for the evaluability of the results in the standardization system and the education sector were derived.
The research project sponsored by the FFG under the direction of TU Vienna was implemented by Urban Innovation Vienna together with Nast Consulting and the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna and ran from June 2013 to May 2014.
