Liesing Mitte is one of the 13 destinations in Vienna that are included in STEP 05. Since 2005, a number of projects have been developed to the point of implementation. In autumn 2014 work began on a new concept for future city planning projects.
For the future plans three main points are of importance: living, ecology and economy. The urban developments in Liesing should be exemplary, appealing and unmistakable, much like a fingerprint. They should take into account identity considerations.
The target area of Liesing is divided up into three parts, all very different in nature:
Industrial area of Liesing
The aim of the project: strengthening of entrepreneurship, innovation and knowledge-based urban economy, to increase growth and employment opportunities in the corporate sector and to achieve a better positioning of Vienna as the centre of knowledge in particular under the aspect of resource conservation and sustainability at all levels.
Carée Atzgersdorf
Atzgersdorf is probably the one district of Liesings, which is the most subject to change by the changes in the environmental structure. Formerly the centre of an area dominated by trade, sustainable change will occur through the relocation of many businesses.
East Wiesen
The area “in Wiesen” or Erlaa has been an important urban growth area for decades. In the urban development plan of 1985, the area between Alterlaa and the Carlbergergasse was seen as a major potential for the further development of the city.
